General descriptionSEED, Sociedade de Engenharia e Desenvolvimento, Lda, is a multi-disciplinary firm of consultants, registered in Mozambique. It has shareholdings of partners belonging to Stewart Scott International from South Africa, DHV SGPS from Portugal and a Mozambican party. SEED is a full member of the International DHV Group.Established during 1996 and having all permits by the end of that year, SEED is more than just the successor of the FBO delegation office in Mozambique. Congruent with the international policy of the DHV Group, it is the only representative of the Group in Mozambique. SEED, through FBO Consultores (DHV SGPS), started activities in Mozambique in 1981, with consulting services for institutional development of DNA/UDAH for the building of the large "Pequenos Libombos", "Corumana" and "Massingir" dams. Under the SEED label, the firm has been involved in the design co-ordination and construction supervision of several works. The company implements projects from inception to completion, commissioning and operation, and provides the necessary professional operation and maintenance (O&M) training to support the developed activities in a sustainable way. The services that SEED offers to clients, include surveys on identification and formulation of projects, strategic development studies, feasibility, and socio-economic studies, engineering design, cost estimates, preparation of contract documents and assistance with tender evaluation, construction supervision services, and commissioning and monitoring, and integrated management services. The firm is accustomed to working in close relationships with clients in order to clarify and interpret their requirements and translate them in a cost-effective way into operational reality, thereby fully satisfying their needs. The current staff totals about 50 of whom 45 are professional experts and engineers, most being Mozambicans. The experience of individual members of staff extends over 30 years and it is the policy to involve and train the staff as much as possible so that the firm will remain well placed to supply suitable expertise to any project in Mozambique and abroad in the region.
