Geotechnik und Tunnelbau is an independent design and consulting company in the field of civil engineering founded by Professor Franz Pacher. From 1983 the company has been directed by Prof Pacher and his closest associates. Mr N Ayaydin has been president of the company since 1988. Between the years 1960 and 1974 the company enjoyed the extensive cooperation of Prof Dr L v Rabcewicz. He and his colleagues, Prof Dr L Müller and Prof Dr F Pacher worked together and developed the new science branch called "Rock Mechanics" to the point where they were able to formulate the "New Austrian Tunnelling Method" (NATM). Both the NATM and "Rock Mechanics" were hailed worldwide as an engineering breakthrough. Geotechnik und Tunnelbau's main areas of expertise are: underground works for traffic, hydro-power, water supply, sewage, storage and mining systems, the complete field of geotechnics, such as foundations, open cut constructions, slope securing and dam construction. Furthermore Geotechnik und Tunnelbau designs complete civil works for hydro-power plants and piping systems, railroad, Metro and LRT-systems as well as environment projects.
