General description

European Construction Ventures Ltd, ECV, was founded as a British "Company under Guarantee", by Continental Construction Enterprises Ltd, CCE, and the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, UMIST, in 1994. Its purpose was to assist in the adaptation and development of Central European countries construction industries to market economies, through training, education and management consulting, but its activities are now worldwide.

Initial work was in Russia, undertaking TACIS funded projects in management training, both directly and through distance learning, for professionals from the local construction sector. These experiences justified the establishment of a permanent Centre in St Petersburg, based at the University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. Through further contacts in the region, similar centres have been established in the Baltic States and in Poland. In each case, close association with leading technical universities has been developed, as well as with the construction industries as a whole.

ECV is now owned by CCE, with UMIST maintaining an educational association. ECV has expanded its business worldwide and in particular throughout Central and Eastern Europe working in three main areas:-

TRAINING AND HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT with specialisation in the
FIDIC documents

MANAGEMENT CONSULTANCY focused on Contractual and Management Disciplines

Projects relating to INSTITUTIONAL STRENGTHENING, HRD AND MANAGEMENT

ECV provides, directly or indirectly through its subsidiary companies and associates worldwide specialist services to assist employers, consulting engineers, architects, and contractors and associated businesses to the construction industry.
