General descriptionFounded on the basis of the Electric Power Planning and Engineering Institute under the former Ministry of Electric Power, the China Power Engineering Consulting (Group) Corporation (CPECC), the parent company of the NCEPDI, is an exclusively invested subsidiary company of the State Power Corporation of China. There are 6 exclusively invested enterprises and 1 holding company under CPECC, namely the 5 Electric Power Design Institutes of Northeast, East, Central South, Northwest and Southwest China, the China Power Construction Engineering Consulting Corporation, and NCEPDI.The Group is at the leading edge of engineering technology on conventional fossil fuel power plants, transmission line and substation projects. Furthermore, it is enthusiastically involved in design innovations. The Group is technologically advanced in China, in demonstration engineering design, optimisation and upgrading of generation technology, and in designs of clean coal combustion power plants, supercritical power plants, combined cycle power plants, air cooled power plants, conventional island nuclear power plants and extra high voltage DC transmission. The Group has entered into extensive communication and cooperation with various international enterprise groups and engineering companies. CPECC has taken a domestic leading role in scientific research, standardisation and information of electric power engineering and design, exploration and survey. It has undertaken work tracking new technologies on electric power development, as well as innovation and assimilation of introduced technologies. Advanced computer technology is widely used in engineering design, project management, and information processing. The Group has patented a number of inventions and new technology. Close to 100 items of scientific research and application software developed by the corporation have won State Prizes and have been applied in engineering and construction. The Group invests in the advancement of science and technology, carries out Safety First guidleines, pursues sustainable development and enhances investment efficiency with the aim of serving society. It has been approved by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation to engage in foreign economic cooperation. CPECC is also qualified for project assessment and consulting, the results of which can form the basis or reference for project approval and decision-making by governmental organisations. Its principal services cover electric power development planning, survey and exploration, consulting, supervision, and turn-key for power generation, transmission, and substation projects, projects financing, and construction management.SpecialisationsWith abundant resources and engineering experience, CPECC has undertaken various strategic studies on electric power development planning. For many years, CPECC has finished tasks on exploration and design for generation, transmission line and substation projects nationwide, taking up 60% of China's total. It has undertaken supervision and turnkey for about 100 large generation, transmission line and substation projects, and carried on about 160 projects in tens of countries. Among all the projects completed, 75 have won the State Prize for Outstanding Design and Exploration.Typical Projects- Container wharf of PSA k16-18 ($20 million) in Singapore, completed in 1992 by NCEPDI.- Muzaffargarh Power Plant, Ph.I and II (3×210MW+1×320MW) in Pakistan, completed in 1992 by NEEPDI (Ph.I) and NWEPDI (Ph.II). - Jamshoro Power Plant (3×210MW) in Pakistan, completed in 1992 by NEEPDI. - TTZ Substation for Hiep Phuoc Power Plant (110kV/3×40MVA) in VietNam, completed in 1997 by NEEPDI. - Chasham Nuclear Power Station (1×300MW) in Pakistan, completed in 1999 by ECEPDI. - Ungaran Surabaya Transmission Line (500kV/251km) in Indonesia, completed in 2000 by ECEPDI. - KDA 132kV Transmission Line Project (turn-key project, 132kV/250km) in Nigeria, is under construction by NCEPDI. - DC transmission Project from East to South (±500kV/2250A) in India, is under Construction by CSEPDI. - SALAH-ALDEEN Power Plant (4×300MW) in Iraq, is Under Construction by NWEPDI.
